Quick answers for getting the most out of the VietLang beta.
What is VietLang, and who is it for?
VietLang is a Vietnamese learning app for heritage speakers — people who grew up hearing Vietnamese at home but were never taught to read or write it — and for learners starting from zero. It closes the literacy-and-register gap: a dictionary, the tones by region, grammar and culture guides, and review practice, all pointed at real-world Vietnamese as it's spoken and written.
Is it free?
Yes. VietLang is completely free during the closed beta. There's an optional VietLang Pro that unlocks unlimited hearts (and an ad-free experience). During the beta there's no billing — the only way onto Pro is a promo code we hand out to testers, which you redeem in the app.
What about audio and accents?
Every word shows how it's pronounced across the three main regions — North, Central, and South. This beta ships with Southern-accent audio; Northern and Central audio are coming soon.
VietLang doesn't listen to you or score your speaking — there's no microphone or pronunciation grading. It's built to help you read, listen, and understand.
How do I save words?
Tap the ★ on any dictionary entry to save it to your list. Saved words stay on your device, and if you're signed in they sync across your devices so your list follows you.
Do I need an account?
Most of the app works without one — you can browse the dictionary, learn the tones, work through lessons and practice, and read the community all signed out. An account is only needed for a few things:
•
Taking the placement test to find your level.
•
Syncing your progress and saved words across devices.
•
Posting or voting in the community forum.
•
Redeeming a VietLang Pro promo code.
How do hearts work?
Each quiz starts with 5 hearts. A wrong answer costs one heart, and running out ends that quiz — you can retry it right away with a fresh set. VietLang Pro gives you unlimited hearts, so you never lose one.
How do I report a problem or a wrong translation?
Flag it right where you find it: most dictionary entries and lesson answers have a small "suggest an edit" option, and you can dispute a quiz answer you think is wrong. Every report helps the dictionary get better. For anything else, reach us from the Contact page.

How do I delete my account or data?
You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it at any time: open the account panel (top-right), choose "Delete account," and confirm. Full details, including how to have us do it for you, are on the delete-account page.
